Reliable Deck & Mooring Equipment Services

Mooring winches and anchor windlasses are among the most critical safety equipment on a vessel, playing a direct role in every berthing, anchoring, and departure operation. A sudden mechanical or hydraulic failure during mooring or anchoring can seriously compromise crew safety, vessel security, and port operations, resulting in operational disruptions and costly downtime.

ASF Gemi Makina provides comprehensive maintenance, repair, and workshop overhaul services for vessel winch and windlass systems. From hydraulic motors and directional control valves to hydraulic piping and brake linings, we manage the entire system from end to end. We also provide professional support for class inspection preparations and load testing.

Our Service Scope & Technical Solutions

  • Disassembly, cleaning, and wear inspection of mechanical components, wildcats, gypsies, drums, and gearbox assemblies.

  • Inspection and replacement of windlass shafts, bearing bushes, and related components.

2. Mooring Winch Repair
  • Complete overhaul of hydraulic and mechanical mooring winches, including drum alignment and maintenance of mechanical locking systems.

  • Troubleshooting and replacement of manual and hydraulic control levers.

3. Hydraulic Drive System Repair
  • Maintenance and overhaul of high-torque hydraulic motors, including radial piston and vane-type motors, as well as control valves operating winches and windlasses.

  • Repair of leaks in deck hydraulic piping, identification of pressure losses, and replacement of seals and other sealing components.

4. Inspection, Survey & Reporting

IMPA-Coded Winch & Windlass Spare Parts Supply

Worn or defective winch and windlass components are supplied in accordance with international IMPA (International Marine Purchasing Association) standards and, when required, installed directly on board the vessel.

Watch for Early Warning Signs!

Critical Failure Indicators You Should Not Ignore:

  • Slow Drum Speed: May indicate internal leakage in the hydraulic motor or insufficient pump pressure.

  • Brake Slip: May be caused by worn brake linings or pressure loss in the hydraulic brake cylinder.

  • Noisy Gearbox Operation: May indicate gear wear or inadequate lubrication.

  • Hydraulic Oil Leaks on Deck: Often caused by seal deterioration or corrosion in hydraulic piping.

Early intervention when these symptoms appear can help prevent major breakdowns, costly repairs, and port-related operational delays or detentions.
